Teymour Peters, 22, of Rockville, was sentenced by a judge to 10 years in prison with all but one year suspended for selling fentanyl to Ourand, who died of an overdose in October last year.

Prosecutors said that Peters sold his victim blue pills stamped with the letter “M” and the number “30” on them to make them look like prescription medication; however, “it was clear from messages recovered from (his) phone that (Peters) was aware what he was selling was in fact, fentanyl."

According to court documents, on Oct. 11, 2022, Ourand went to his mother’s home the day before she was set to take him to the dentist, but the following day she woke up to find the basement light still on and her son unconscious downstairs.

His mother and first responders attempted to revive Ourand, but he died from the overdose.

Peters was pulled over in Montgomery County weeks later on Oct. 27, 2022, where he was busted with three Percocet pills that were believed to be counterfeit. In November last year, testing on the pills taken from Ourand in the basement came back as a match for what he was busted with during the stop and he was charged with multiple offenses.

Officials made note that Peters also served seven months before his trial but will not receive credit for time served, bringing his total sentence to 19 months, a judge said. He was also ordered to serve five years of supervised probation when he is released.
